We’ve partnered with NCVO and Community Foundation Tyne & Wear and Northumberland for an on Environmental, Social, and Governance decisions for Trustees’ Week. The event will be held on Tuesday 7th November at MEA House in Newcastle. Sign up through eventbrite.
In November, VONNE will also be holding our annual conference and AGM. This will be held at Sunderland City Hall on Thursday 16th November. The day will focus on AI and the charity sector, and VONNE’s future strategy. Find out more and register through the VONNE website.

We recently held our team strategy day at Gosforth Nature Reserve! Hiring nature reserve centres as for small events is a great way to financially support the reserve’s work, and learn more about the wildlife and nature that they protect.

Groundwork releases 5 year strategy to create a fairer, greener future for all — Groundwork
In the middle of an ever-growing cost of living crisis, the community charity’s bold plans put emphasis on the importance of tackling social and environmental issues together. Groundwork’s strategy includes helping to create a greener economy, helping people connect with nature, responding and adapting to climate change, and helping more people overcome hardship and isolation. Big and bold plans for rewilding wetlands — Durham Wildlife Trust
Durham Wildlife Trust is aiming to restore 500 hectares of wetland in the creation of a Great North Fen. This project will help increase biodiversity, sequester carbon and remove nutrient pollution from water systems. Read more through DWT’s blog.

Funding awarded for Westmorland and Furness decarbonisation hub — CAfS
The UK Shared Prosperity Fund has provided £571,359 to establish a pioneering business decarbonisation hub, bolstering the sustainability efforts of up to 300 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), charities, community businesses, and social enterprises. Read more through CAfS’ website.

Northumberland Environment and Climate Fund — Northumberland County Council
Northumberland County Council is offering £55,000 from its Environment & Climate Fund and community and voluntary groups in the county with environmental projects. Groups can apply for up to £5,000 to help fund projects which enhance nature and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The deadline is midday on Tuesday 14th November.
